Drouin
A Great Place To Live
A Great Place To Live

Drouin's location within an area of green, undulating countryside has resulted in the growth of a town with scenic outlooks, set within picturesque surroundings. It certainly is the place to live!!!

Drouin is supposedly named after a Frenchman who invented a chlorination process for the extraction of ore; however, it is also a belief that the town is named after the Aboriginal word meaning "North Wind". It is located 90 km south east of Melbourne CBD and only 10 km from Warragul. Joined by a walking track, this twin town with Warragul offers almost every service you should require.

Originally a dense forest, with it's rich agricultural land, Drouin was mostly known for its dairy farming. The town has progressed steadily over the years. Located within the Baw Baw Shire, Drouin is designated as a growth area and is one of the State's fastest growing municipalities. This is reflected in the recent population growth. In the 2011 census the population of Drouin was 9686. It is currently estimated to be around 16,000.

The commercial center of Drouin is centered around Princes Way and features a selection of retail outlets, two major supermarkets and, of recent, even a McDonalds! V line services the town with the train station located in the center of the shopping precinct. There are five primary schools and two high schools, a fabulous golf course and a number of attractive parks with modern sporting facilities.

Drouin is the center of many attractions. With only an hours drive to some beautiful beaches, or one hours drive to the city of Melbourne, and approximately one hour to the snow fields of Mt Baw Baw, why would you want to live anywhere else?
With a mixture of properties to choose from, there is something to suit every buyer; from older style houses to modern, acreage living to farming. For those looking to escape the hustle and bustle of the city, and to enjoy some fresh clean air in a quiet country town, then Drouin is the place for you.
